Lynda Matchullis

Lynda Matchullis is Learning Services Administrator in Prairie Spirit School Division.  Her role is providing support for K-12 teaching staff in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and learning partnerships.

Lynda believes in the power of professional reflection and dialogue to engage teachers with their curricula and the broader goal of better learning for students. As a proponent of place-based learning, Lynda thinks students benefit when they go out into the local community to learn and invite the community back into the school. She believes that powerful learning is inquiry-based, hands-on, and authentic.

As a rural teacher for the past 23 years, Lynda has taught Grades 7 – 12 Sciences and Math. She was a member of the Biology Curriculum Development team and writer/contributor to various Manitoba Education documents. These include the Senior Years Science Teachers’ Handbook and Success for All Learners. Lynda has always differentiated instruction in her classrooms. She uses strategic teaching approaches, including reading and writing to learn science. Lynda has shared these approaches, when acting as a facilitator at various workshops throughout the province.

Lynda is presently working on her Masters in Education, focusing on Education Administration with Curriculum and Instruction studies. She has published in the BU Journal of Graduate Studies in Education and was recognized as an outstanding female student in 2011. Her two children are also at university. Dan is studying biochemistry and Jaclyn is interested in history. Lynda and her husband, Grant, live on the edge of the Pembina Valley where they like to snowshoe, hike, and kayak.
